7 Things You Must Do in KC
1. Scarf down some BBQ. Barbeque—something KC does better than the rest. We suggest, no, we insist you try our signature dish. Our favorites include Arthur Bryant’s BBQ, Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue, Gates BBQ, KC Masterpiece Barbecue & Grill, LC’s and Oklahoma Joe’s.
2. Catch a Chiefs game. Hearing the roar of the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium—named in September 2006 as the third best NFL stadium by FOX Sports—is defi nitely something to experience.
3. Visit the Jazz District. It’s home to the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, just east of downtown. The 18th & Vine Jazz District is legendary thanks to folks like Charlie Parker and baseball great Buck O’Neil.
4. Take Fido to one of KC’s many dog parks. From Mutt Run in Lawrence to Bark Park in Topeka, there are so many dog parks in the KC area. With dog parks in Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, Kansas City and many more, it’s almost difficult not to meet other dog-lovers in Kansas City.
5. Skate on the Crown Center Ice Terrace. November through March you can enjoy outdoor ice skating at Crown Center. This is a great place for families, a romantic date or even a fun spot for a group of friends to get together.
6. Become a loyal First Fridays attendee. Experience KC’s love for art the first Friday of every month when thousands of Kansas Citians flock to Crossroads Arts District galleries that are open late for touring. You can even spot license plates from Illinois to Arkansas. Make it a truly incredible evening by dining at one of the fabulous independently owned restaurants for dinner; just make sure to make reservations.
7. Shop on the Country Club Plaza. The Plaza—the first outdoor shopping center in the U.S., circa 1922—is known for its Rodeo Drive-caliber shopping, dining and entertainment as well as its Spanish architecture and sparkling fountains. Whether it’s a full day of shopping, drinks with clients after work or a night out on the town with your friends—you can have it all on the Plaza.
