Lofts and Condos

Ready to trade in your lawn mower and commute for the city life? Kansas City’s loft and condo construction has exploded by more than 1,000% since 2000.

With demand for an urban KC lifestyle higher than ever, units sell out fast. Still prefer the suburban environment? There are lifestyle centers and condo developments popping up there, too.

Convenience.  Four interstates converge in the downtown loop and you can be anywhere in the metro within a half-hour. Lifestyle centers where living, shopping, dining and entertainment are combined can be found in all corners of the metro.

Price. Lofts and condos in the downtown area start at as little as $100,000, though there are plenty of luxury options to choose from as well. You can expect around $300 per square foot for new construction just about anywhere in the area.

Culture. The loft explosion started in the artsy Crossroads District with raw, open spaces. The area is now alive with more than 40 independent galleries, boutique shopping, local upscale restaurants and coffee shops. The first Friday of every month sees close to 10,000 people converge for a night-long gallery walk featuring live music and lots of energy.

Variety. High rises, converted spaces, new construction, town homes, row homes and single family residences can all be found in both urban and suburban environments.

Room to grow. Though more than 5,000 units have been built since 2004, a new development is announced almost monthly. Even more variety and options are on the way.
