Kansas City ranks 21st among the 69 major U.S. cities for the most lifestyle bang for your salary buck. According to salary.com, the median household income in Kansas City is $40,920. Salary.com looked at average pay in relation to costs of living to arrive at the “best cities to build personal wealth.”

Kansas City is a Top 25 Cyber City
The Kansas City area ranks as one of the top 25 “cybercities” by the AeA, a high-tech industry trade group. Kansas City ranks No. 20 with the highest concentration of high-tech jobs. According to AeA, about one of every 13 Kansas City area workers, or 7.6 percent, works in higher technology.

The National Civic League has named Gladstone, Mo., one of the 10 All-American City Award Winners. Kansas City is one of the Best Cities for Innovation
The magazine selected 12 international cities to watch for innovation including Barcelona, Beijing, Seattle, Moscow and Abu Dhabi. Kansas City’s $9B redevelopment, the KC Animal Health Corridor and the city’s growing art scene convinced the magazine to select Kansas City as one of the 12 international cities.

Children's Mercy one of "America's Best Children's Hospitals"
Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City, Mo. has been ranked among the nation's best in U.S. News & World Report's list of "America's Best Children's Hospitals." Children’s Mercy Hospital ranks No. 17 in the United States for digestive disorders and number 26 in the United States for Neonatal Care. The rankings were based on a three-part blend of reputation, outcome and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology and credentialing.

Kansas City’s housing market remains strong for sellers. Forbes evaluated the country’s 40 largest metro areas and their 2007 unsold vacancy rate to determine to the five best cities for home sellers.

The Kansas City International airport ranks as one of the three least miserable airports in the United States
U.S. News used government figures about crowded planes and delayed flights to evaluate more than 45 airports and issue a misery index. Kansas City earned the title as the third least miserable airport.

Forbes ranked Lawrence, Kan. as the 7th smartest city in the United States. The magazine compared metros’ percentage of citizens who held professional, bachelor, and/or doctoral degrees.

Kansas City's pure drinking water earns the city a spot in the Top 20 Healthy U.S. Cities
The magazine evaluated 15 pieces of criteria including number of acclaimed chefs, average wage for chefs and does fresh produce exist. Cooking Light sited Kansas City’s pure drinking water in its publication.
